In 1954, what is now The Arc of Southside was formed by families and the community as a local chapter of The Arc of Virginia and The Arc of the United States. Their hope in building this organization was for their families to have a choice for a better life.

Programs

Residential

The Arc of Southside supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities exclusively in their own homes or apartments. Learn More.
 

Employment

The Arc of Southside assists individuals with developmental disabilities in obtaining skills and support for employment that will lead to self-sufficiency and integration into their community. Learn More.
 

Community Engagement

While The Arc of Southside has begun supporting people with developmental disabilities to obtain and maintain employment in the community, we haven’t forgotten that there is more to life than work!  Learn More.

Transition Services

The Transition Services program began in 2016 in partnership with Pittsylvania County Schools to help youth with developmental disabilities to prepare for and transition into work and adult life after they graduate.    Learn More.
